CHESTER (PA) – Sophomore
Meghan Donovan captured the high jump title to highlight Delaware Valley College's showing in day two of the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Widener University.
The Aggies are in eighth place out of 10 teams with a total of 15 points after 10 events. Donovan picked up 10 points and her first MAC championship as she cleared the bar at 5 feet, 4.25 inches to top the runner-up by two inches. Donovan was the 2009 runner-up and later qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships after reaching the qualifying standard at the ECAC Championships.
Tracey Forsythe and
Rachelle Salem also tallied points for Delaware Valley on Friday. Forsythe, a freshman, finished in fifth place and broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12 minutes, 10.87 seconds. Salem took eighth in the discus and the sophomore had a throw of 101 feet, 11 inches.
Messiah College leads the women's team standings with 82 points. Elizabethtown College and Widener follow with 83 and 51 points respectively. The final day of competition takes place on Saturday.
