BEREA (OH) -- Delaware Valley College sophomore standout Tom Masterson has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and will compete in the javelin throw which will take place at Baldwin-Wallace College on Thursday, May 27.
Masterson will be one of 16 entrants in the javelin and is coming off back-to-back titles at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. He captured the MAC crown thanks to a throw of 200 feet, 2 inches - a distance that later earned him a spot in the NCAA field. He also won the long jump title, placed in the six in four other events and was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the MAC Championships. Masterson followed a week later with a toss of 196 feet, 4 inches to clain the ECAC championship.
Masterson is the second Aggie in as many years to reach the NCAA Championships as fellow sophomore Meghan Donovan qualified in the women's high jump last season.
