AGGIES IN SIXTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF FREEDOM CHAMPIONSHIPS

HERSHEY (PA) – The Delaware Valley College golf team is in sixth place out of eight teams of day one of competition at the 2010 Freedom Conference Championship held on the East Course of Hershey Country Club (par 71).

The Aggies have a four-man team total of 352 and are ahead of both DeSales University (356) and Eastern University (401). Manhattanville College leads the way with a 297 score while King's College (323), Wilkes University (329), Misericordia University (334) and FDU-Florham (336) round out the top five. The final 18 holes is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday

A total of 40 golfers (five from each team) are competing at the Freedom Championship. Jeff Smith paces Delaware Valley and is tied with two others for 10th place following his nine-over-par 80. Mike Cavalieri is tied for 20th place with an 86 while David Moser and Jesse Riddington each shot a 93 and are tied for 30th. Doug Schrader is also competing for the Aggies and his first round score of 94 has him in 33rd place.

Mike Cresci of Manhattanville had the top round on Saturday with a one-over-par 72. Teammates Mike Bowers and Lem Randall and Misericordia' Buck Aeppli are each tied for second and just two strokes behind.
