DELVAL FOOTBALL PROGRAM TO HOST BONE MARROW SPONSOR DRIVE ON APRIL 24

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – For the second straight year, the Delaware Valley College football team has partnered up with Villanova University and numerous college football teams with the “Get In the Game. Save A Life” program in an effort to recruit new members to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry. The Aggies will host their drive on Saturday, April 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in two classrooms on the first floor of the college's Allman Hall.

|A bone marrow screening is a quick and simple process as only a cheek swap is necessary, but that little test can ultimately save lives. There is no charge for the test. Delaware Valley's sponsor drive will take place during A-Day, an annual event that attracts thousands of area residents to the campus.

Villanova head football coach Andy Talley has spearheaded the program for more than 15 years and has raised awareness about the need for marrow donors as well as recruiting thousands of members to the registry. Head coach Jim Clements and the Delaware Valley College Aggies are proud to join forces with him on this project.

“It's a great opportunity for our football program to give back and perhaps help save someone's life,” Clements said. “Having the drive take place at such a big campus and community event as A-Day will hopefully lead to high number of new members to the registry.”

Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on the NMDP registry to find a match. The higher the number of potential marrow donors, the greater the chance to save a life. Donors with diverse racial or ethnic backgrounds are especially critical as patients in need of a transplant are most likely to match someone of their own race or ethnicity.
