COCOA BEACH (FL) – The Delaware Valley College softball team ended its Spring Break trip to Florida with a 14-3 rout of Mount Mary College. The game was halted after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
The Aggies posted a 4-5 record in varsity contests in the Sunshine State (they also played a two-year community college on Thursday, but those results do not count toward the team record and individual statistics). They will return to action on Thursday, March 25 with a home doubleheader against Penn State Abington.
Keri Hardiman improved to 2-0 on the mound as the sophomore allowed just one earned run and four hits over the five innings. She walked one and fanned four. Hardiman also helped her own cause by going 1-for-4 and knocking in a pair of runs, including one on an RBI ground out in the first to give the team the lead for good.
The Aggies put the contest away with six runs in the third and five more in the fourth. They finished with 11 hits including three by
Sarah Lazar.
Ashley Grove went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while
Emily Bobal and
Becky Furman knocked in two runs apiece.
