VENNERA NAMED ECAC SECOND TEAM ALL-STAR

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior guard Kim Vennera (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) capped a memorable career by being selected as an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Second Team All-Star.

It is the second consecutive year that Vennera was tabbed by the ECAC as she was a 2008-09 second-team honoree as well. It is also the final award of the season for Vennera as she was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year earlier this month.

Vennera ranked in the Freedom's top 10 in five categories, including steals where she held the top spot with an average of 3.3 thefts per game. She was fourth in both scoring (15.8 avg) and 3-pointers (1.3 avg), sixth in free throw percentage (.713) and seventh in assists (2.9 avg). She reached double digits in scoring in 23 of the 27 games and had four double-doubles to her credit.

Vennera finished her career as Delaware Valley's all-time leading scorer with 1,427 points. She also placed in the top 10 in six other categories: steals (2nd - 254), rebounding (5th – 676), field goals (5th – 488), assists (6th – 266), free throws (6th – 334) and 3-pointers (10th – 117).
also third in 3-point percentage (.311), fifth in assists (3.7 avg) and seventh in scoring (12.3 avg).

Delaware Valley posted a 17-10 overall record for a six-game improvement from the 2008-09 campaign (11-14). The Aggies went 9-5 in the Freedom Conference and qualified for the playoffs where they fell to eventual champion DeSales University in the semifinals. They were then selected as the top seed for the ECAC South Region Championships and dropped a quarterfinal contest to eventual runner-up Juniata College.
