TOM DRUMMOND NAMED MEN'S SOCCER COACH

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College is pleased to announce that 2008 graduate and current assistant coach Tom Drummond has been named the men's soccer coach of the Aggies. He replaces Brian Kammersgaard, who resigned at the conclusion of his fourth year at the part-time position.

Drummond will lead the Delaware Valley program into the critical recruiting stage that takes place in the offseason.

“I'm real excited for this wonderful opportunity,” Drummond said. “This is a good area for soccer and Division III is a great opportunity for a lot of players. I feel like the program can cultivate players from around here and the surrounding areas as well.”

Drummond received local attention when he returned to college in 2006 and went out for the Aggie men's soccer team at the age of 40. He earned three letters, served as a team captain in both 2007 and 2008, and notched a goal and two assists for four points in 32 appearances. Drummond also earned a spot on the Freedom Conference's all-academic team in 2007 and 2008.

Drummond then joined Kammersgaard's staff following his graduation with a bachelor of science degree in sports management in December of 2008. The team won 12 games over the last two years for the sixth-highest, two-year victory total in program history.

“As a former Delaware Valley player, alum and assistant coach, Tom is the right choice to take over the program,” Delaware Valley College athletic director Frank Wolfgang said. “He has the knowledge, energy and time to recruit as well as the respect and support of the current players. Tom's first objective is recruiting and I'm confident in what he will do in that area.”

Drummond is also the owner and president of DII Computers, Inc. in Willow Grove. He and his wife Debbie live in Chalfont with their sons Max (16) and Ben (13) and daughter Sara (10).

Kammersgaard took over a program that had not won a game for three consecutive years and led the team to 18 wins in his four seasons. The 2010 Aggies posted a 6-12-1 overall record.

“I want to thank Brian for his time and effort over the last four years with the Delaware Valley College men's soccer program,” Wolfgang said.
