PAVLIK SELECTED AS MAC FIELD HOCKEY SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior midfielder Bethany Pavlik (Lewes, DE/Sussex Tech) has been named the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) Scholar-Athlete for the sport of field hockey.

Pavlik is the second Delaware Valley student-athlete in as many years to receive the award as Ralph Stambaugh took home the '08 accolade for football. She will be honored at a conference luncheon in May.

Pavlik will go down as one the top players in Aggie field hockey history. She was named to the all-Freedom Conference team three times and was also the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2006. She capped her career by being named the 2009 Freedom Conference Player of the Year

This past season, Pavlik paced the Aggies and was ranked among the Freedom leaders with 13 goals and 30 points. She helped lead Delaware Valley to the conference semifinals where they dropped an overtime decision to nationally-ranked and eventual Freedom champion Eastern University.

Pavlik is the program's career leader in assists with 28 while her 48 goals and 124 points are second on the all-time list. Pavlik also owns or shares the records goals (5) and points (11) in a game as well as assists in a single-season (11).

Academically, Pavlik is an equine science and management major who holds a 3.79 cumulative grade point average. She is a three-time member of the conference's fall all-academic team, a three-time member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team and a two-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Squad (this year's squad yet to be announced).

Pavlik is also a member of the Aggie softball team and has been a three-time all-conference selection in that sport. She has also earned spots on the MAC's spring all-academic team and the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team on two occasions.

The MAC comprises of the 16 colleges and universities that make up the Middle Atlantic Conference, Freedom Conference and Commonwealth Conference. The MAC Awards Committee bases selection in the 22 sports the conferences sponsor on academic record (50%) and athletic prowess (50%). The student-athlete must be a senior with a minimum grade point average of 3.2.
