DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College's
Holly Rich (Wharton, NJ/Roxbury) and
Hollis Hancock (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) have been named the Freedom Conference Field Hockey Player and Goalkeeper/Defender of the Week respectively for the period ending September 27.
It is the first such honor for both players in their collegiate careers as they helped the Aggies go 2-0 during the week, including a 2-0 triumph over DeSales University in their conference opener.
Rich, a junior, had a pair of game-winning goals and also added an assist for five points in the two contests. The assist and the first game-winning tally came in the 2-0 triumph over non-conference foe Arcadia University to start the week. Rich has six goals (four game-winners) and three assists for 15 points on the season.
Hancock, a sophomore, recorded 17 saves and the first two shutouts of her collegiate career. She made eight stops, including one on a penalty stroke in the win over Arcadia and followed with nine saves against DeSales. Hancock has every minute in goal for Delaware Valley this season and has 64 saves and a 1.65 goals against average to her credit.
Delaware Valley is 6-3 overall (1-0 Freedom) and returns to action on Tuesday, September 29 when it travels to Wesley College for a non-conference game.
