HACKETTSTOWN (NJ) – Hours after finding out it moved up to a tie for second in the latest national rankings, the Delaware Valley College wrestling team showed why as the Aggies won nine of 10 weight classes, en route to a 41-3 victory at Centenary College.

The win improved Delaware Valley to 20-1-2 on the season with its lone setback coming against top-ranked Augsburg College. One of its ties was against defending champion Wartburg College, the team the Aggies are sharing the second spot with in the Division III poll.

Delaware Valley had two pins, two technical falls, two major decisions, two decisions and one forfeit in the victory. One of the pins came at heavyweight where newly crowned No. 1 Kyle Bilquist (24-3) dropped Tom Tomaino in just 81 seconds. The other top-ranked wrestler on the roster, 184-pounder Mike Wilcox, improved to 28-2 on the year with a 21-6, technical fall victory over JJ Mitchell.

Nationally-ranked wrestlers Chris Sheetz (fourth at 125), Brandon Clemmer (third at 133) and Rocky Mantella (fifth at 174) notched victories as well. Sheetz was awarded a forfeit for his 30th win of the season (30-4). Clemmer improved to 25-6 with a 14-1 major decision over Jay Giuricich while Mantella remained undefeated at 23-0 with a 27-11 technical fall victory over Charles Cannella (the victory was only worth four points and not five because Mantella did not have any back points in the match).

Martin Porter (19-6) notched the remaining pin at 197 pounds as he needed just 55 seconds to down Chris Sharma. Justin Barowski (21-8) earned a 12-0 shutout over Matt Reagan while Eric McCann (19-9) and Dale Fava (13-7) tallied decisions at 141 and 149 pounds respectively.
