AGGIES OPEN INDOOR SEASON AT URSINUS WINTER INVITATIONAL

COLLEGEVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley College opened its indoor track and field season by competing at the Ursinus College Winter Invitational. The women placed eighth out of 18 teams while the men were ninth out of 18.

Both Aggies squads finished with 22 points. Division I Towson State University on the women's competition with 133.83 points while Division Bowie State University took the men's crown with 122 points.

Caitlin Dorgan, who recently became the first Aggie women's cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, began the indoor track campaign on a high note as she placed first out of 30 competitors in the 1-mile run with a time of 5 minutes, 20.99 seconds. Teammate Tracey Forsythe also placed in the event as she crossed the finish line eighth with a time of 5 minutes, 52.88 seconds. 

Dorgan and Forsythe combined with Margie Mote and Alisha Jordan to place third in the 4x800 relay with a time of 10 minutes, 43.94 seconds. Meghan Donovan, a NCAA championship qualifier in the outdoor high jump last season, took fourth in the indoor event as she cleared the bar at 1.58 meters. 

On the men's side, Thomas Masterson was the top Aggie finisher as he placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.05 meters. Travis Pitts took third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.68 seconds while Frank Visconti tossed the shot put 12.62 meters to place seventh. The 4x800 relay team of Chip Brumbaugh, Kevin McCoy, Steve Miller and Thomas Porter finished in fifth place (9:26.05).
