DORGAN FINISHES AS MAC RUNNER-UP; AGGIE WOMEN PLACE FIFTH

CENTER VALLEY (PA) – Delaware Valley College junior Caitlin Dorgan took second place at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships for the highest finish ever by an Aggie women's cross country runner at the event. Her performance helped the women place fifth out of 14 squads

Delaware Valley recorded 147 points to trail only Elizabethtown College (56 points), Messiah College (60), Misericordia University (100) and Lebanon Valley College (128). It was the team's third straight, top five showing as the Aggies took fourth in each of the last two years.

Dorgan entered the MAC Championships having won three invitationals during the regular season and looking to improve on last year's fifth-place finish at the conference event. She did just that as her 6K time of 23 minutes, 42.62 seconds topped 127 of the 128 other competitors. Only senior Megan Vanderhengel of Elizabethtown topped her performance as Vanderhengel finished with a time of 23 minutes, 31.47 seconds.

Dorgan picked up first-team, all-MAC honors (top 10) for the second year in a row and it was third all-conference accolade overall as she was a second team selection (top 20) as a freshman. She will now prepare for the NCAA Mid-East Regionals that will be held at Lehigh University on November 14 and a chance to become the first Aggie to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.

Freshman Tracey Forsythe earned all-MAC second-team honors in her conference championship as she placed 15th with a time of 25 minutes, 47.03 seconds. Fellow rookie Alisha Jordan took 48th with a time of 27 minutes, 19.03 seconds while sophomore Margie Mote (27:34.63) and senior Talesha Karish (27:59.02) took 53rd and 56th respectively.
