EAST STROUDSBURG (PA) – Delaware Valley College junior
Caitlin Dorgan captured her third individual title of the season and shattered the East Stroudsburg University course record as the Aggies competed at the Pete Nevins Invitational. The women placed third out of 14 squads while the men were eighth out of 15.
The Delaware Valley women finished with 100 points to trails only Division II schools East Stroudsburg (71) and Kutztown Univeristy (76). The main reason why was Dorgan as she took home her third crown in five races this year (she captured the top spot at both the Delaware Valley Invitational and the Paul Short Run at Lehigh earlier in the year). She finished with a time of 18 minutes, 56 seconds topping the previous course record by 45 seconds.
Tracey Forsythe was 14th out of 90 runners with a time of 21 minutes, 7 seconds.
Margie Mote (22:01) and
Alisha Jordan (22:04) placed 27th and 29th respectively while
Talesha Karish (22:47) was 39th.
On the men's side,
Chip Brumbaugh was the top Aggie finished as his time of 17 minutes, 11 seconds was good enough for 15th out of 118 competitors.
Kevin McCoy (17:42) finished in 29th place while
Thomas Porter (18:08) and Steve Miller (18:31) took 38th and 46th respectively. La Salle University won the team crown with 53 points followed by East Stroudsburg's 63 points.
Delaware Valley will now prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships which take place at DeSales University on Saturday, October 31.
