AGGIES STAY UNDEFEATED IN MAC WITH 41-17 VICTORY OVER FDU-FLORHAM

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior quarterback Mike Isgro went 18-of-23 for 203 touchdowns with three touchdowns through the air while rushing for 62 yards on seven carries and a score on the ground to lead Delaware Valley College to a 41-17 win over FDU-Florham in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game.

The Aggies improved to 4-1 overall and is one of two teams (Albright College the other) to remain unbeaten in conference play after two weeks. With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-4 (0-2 MAC).

Delaware Valley opened the game with the ball and drove the length of the field before the FDU defense stood tall and forced a turnover on downs on a fourth-and-one from its two-yard line. On the Devils' second play, Brendon Griffin ripped off a 66-yard run to take the ball down to the Delaware Valley 15. Three plays later, senior quarterback Bill Winters connected with Andrew Scamporino for a seven-yard touchdown to give FDU a 7-0 lead with 8:05 left in the first quarter. The drive went 98 yards on only five plays.

The Aggies responded right away though, driving 76 yards in seven plays capped by a 16-yard touchdown pass from Isgro to Isaiah Hall to tie the game at 7-7 with 5:00 left in the first quarter. The Devils went three-and-out on their next series, and the Aggies took over on the FDU 47-yard line. Delaware Valley needed just seven plays to reach the end zone and Isgro finished off the final six on the ground on the first play of the second quarter. Jake Sobchak's extra-point clanked off the left right leaving it at 13-7.

The Devils moved into Aggie territory on their next possession and faced a third-and-ten from the 33 yard line when Winters scrambled to his right and threw back across his body for a 33-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Cushman to give FDU a 14-13 lead with 8:30 left in the first half. The Devils drive went 90 yards in 15 plays.

Delaware Valley took the lead for good, thanks to a five-play, 57-yard drive late in the opening half. Matt Cook ended the drive with a one-yard plunge into the end zone with just 42 seconds left on the clock. Sobchak added the point-after for a 20-14 advantage with just 42 seconds left before intermission.

FDU got the ball first in the second half and picked up one first down before they had to punt. The Aggies immediately converted, taking a 27-14 lead with 6:36 left in the third quarter on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Isgro to Chad Peterman.

The Devils took advantage of an Aggie turnover and key plays by Bill Winters, including a 13-yard scramble on a fourth-and-10 from the 14, to reach the one-yard line. However, three penalties put the ball back to the Delaware Valley 24. FDU reached the nine and settled for a 26-yard field goal by Travis Mullen to cut the deficit to 27-17 with 13:16 left in the game.

On Delaware Valley's ensuing possession, Isgro was intercepted by Ryan Daly on the Aggie 38-yard line. However the Delaware Valley defense came through and Winters was sacked by Ken Fowkles back k at the 40 on fourth down.

The Aggies then marched down the field and put the game away when Isgro hooked up with fullback Butch Whiteside for a 16-yard touchdown to give Delaware Valley a 34-17 lead with 7:51 left in the game. Delaware Valley then tacked on another seven when Tyler Neal rushed for a ten-yard touchdown to make it 41-17 with 4:54 remaining.

Isgro's big afternoon helped him move into sole possession of second place on the school's all-time list with 53 touchdown tosses. Cook lugged the ball 19 times for 125 yards and one score and, in the process, moved into third place on the all-time rushing list with 2,434 yards. Peterman led all Aggie receivers with six catches for 73 yards and one trip to the end zone.

Defensively, junior linebacker Kyle Gesswein had nine tackles and two sacks and he moved into a tie for second place on the Delaware Valley career sacks list (23). Mike Jaskowski added seven tackles while Fowkles and Dustyn Seifert had a sack apiece and Derek Porter and Garrett Wooters had half a sack apiece.

Winters finished 18-of-34 for 135 yards and two touchdowns through the air to go along with 17 carries for 19 yards on the ground. Bayshawn Wells had 13 rushes for 71 yards. Bukowiec ended the day with six catches for 30 yards while Cushman had four grabs for 58 yards and a score.
