COLLEGEVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley College cross country team competed in the heavy rain and wind at the Ursinus College Invitational. The Aggie women placed second out of seven teams while the men finished fourth out of eight squads.
The Delaware Valley women notched 62 points to trail only the host Bears (25 points). Two of the top four placewinners were Aggies as Caitlin Dorgan took second while Brittany Schwartz was fourth. Dorgan ran the 5K course in 19 minutes, 56.03 seconds while Schwartz was clocked at 20 minutes, 29.17 seconds.
Meghan Hunsiker took 16th out of 67 runners with a time of 22 minutes, 32.79 seconds while Melissa Plourde's time of 23 minutes, 6.13 seconds was good enough for 20th place.
The Aggie men registered 99 points with Division I Navy capturing the invitational title with 15 points. Chip Brumbaugh finished 11th (second among Division III runners) with an 8K time of 29 minutes, 30.36 seconds. Rico Borrero (30:33.45) and Kevin McCoy (30:52.20) were 18th and 19th respectively in the 79-man field.
