Second half goal secures the win over Gwynedd Mercy
DOYLESTOWN,Pa- The Delaware Valley men's soccer team scored twice to defeat Gwynedd Mercy, 2-0, on Wednesday night.
The Aggies came out strong in the opening half, generating several offensive chances early. Karl Kowula scores in the 12th minute to give the Aggies the lead 1-0. Gwynedd Mercy responded with a few chances of their own, but none of the shots were on target. In the 39th minute Dylan Cochran was given a yellow card. Delaware Valley finishes the first half with a 1-0 lead over Gwynedd Mercy.
The Aggies carried their 1-0 lead into the second half and continued to pressure Gwynedd Mercy's defense. In the 76th minute, DelVal doubled its advantage when Elijah Purtle scored the second goal of the game, with Roy Hevener and Derian Wubbenhorst with the assists. This gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead with under 15 minutes to go in the second half. Gwynedd Mercy attempted to respond, but Delaware Valley's defense held firm. Gwynedd Mercy's Mava Mboko Celestin received a yellow card in the 83rd minute. Delaware Valley finishes the game with a 2-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy.
Following the win, the Aggies move to 2-0-1. Next up they play Stevenson at Home at 12:00 p.m.
